Looking for braces in South Miami Heights, Florida? Dr. Carmen Briceño Crespi of Miami Lakes Orthodonitcs is a leading provider of metal and clear aligners in the South Florida area. Apart from kids, today a lot of grown-ups are going that extra step to get braces, also. In case it is to fix longstanding dental issues such as fixing spaces or to improve appearance, there are various advancements and corrections in orthodontics dentistry today, naming braces the pick for a lot of people.

Braces most importantly fix crooked teeth, and it is what everyone imagine when braces are brought up. By pulling the teeth into more correct place with brackets fastened to the teeth and wires that are readjusted over time, it’s possible to gradually ease teeth into new and more normal positions. This will happen slowly – often years – but, the lasting results might be well worth it. Stereotypically, braces for kids are installed teens and minors while their teeth are still shaping, but today you can get braces offered to anybody wanting to take care of dental concerns by straightening their teeth. Braces can do more than help better an individual’s looks, but it can also correct a long list of dental issues that could come from having jagged teeth or a bad bite. Problems such as extreme rotten teeth, premature enamel wear, crowded teeth, blockings, and jawline misalignment could all be addressed over time with braces.

Why Choose Lakes Orthodontics as Your South Miami Heights Orthodontist?

Braces carry a stereotype of being just for children for a few reasons. Long ago, it was thought that it was only conceivable to amend the alignment of teeth or correct dental issues using braces as a person was not as old and their teeth were still growing. This has from then been comfirmed as a sham, with the point being that even mature teeth will be shifted and bone growth could persist, helping to keep tweaked teeth in their new and accurate position.

Plus, as for how awkward and ugly braces used to be, there were not plently grownups intent on wearing them. Bearing in mind that a standard grown person’s day involves being at work much of the day, as well as handling various people in several professional and personal situations, braces were frequently seen as awkward for the wearer, with many choosing to simply leave their teeth the way they were. Still, not only has it been found that it is entirely viable to adjust mature teeth, the health advantages received from improving dental issues can make it worthwhile at any age. It could take longer for mature teeth to be edged into their new places requiring older patients to wear their braces for more time than younger people, but the advantages will continue to outweigh the downsides.

It is especially so seeing as the great, new braces obtainable today that people can wear at ease, such as Clear Braces, Metal Braces, Lingual Braces, and Self-Ligating Braces; also snap-in retainers that can be in place certain times of the day and left off others. There are several new braces existing for patients  of any age to have their teeth realigned, giving them more than a beautiful smile but also the health advantages that go with aligned teeth and a right bite. What types of food should I eat when I first get my braces?

Kids Smile at Lakes Ortho

Softer foods are the best choice of foods to eat when you first get braces or Invisalign because your teeth will be sore from the initial pressure and movement caused by the treatment.  I have a list below of the top ten things to eat when you first get your braces:

  • Smoothies, milkshakes or ice cream

You deserve a treat after making a responsible and smart decision like starting your braces or Invisalign and getting your beautiful smile.  Nothing says reward like a delicious cold treat such as a smoothie, milkshake or some delicious ice cream.  In addition to being absolutely delicious, they do not require chewing which is great considering your teeth are probably sore and the cold sensation on your teeth can often time be therapeutic and soothing.  Just make sure not to get too carried away with toppings that can potentially mess up your braces such as caramels, nuts or sticky chewy candy.

  • Pasta or rice dishes.

There is nothing quite like comfort food when you want to feel good inside.  Since your teeth are probably sore you may want to eat foods that are comforting but yet still easy to chew.  A few of our favorite suggestions to our pasta lovers is to have a delicious carb filled meal to celebrate their new braces or Invisalign such as Mac and cheese, spaghetti Bolognese, lobster or cheese ravioli or a fettuccini alfredo.  For our rice lovers, try a comforting bowl of arroz con pollo, chicken fricassee, Cajun-style red beans, and rice or a warm risotto.  The possibilities are endless but keep in mind to make sure that the food is soft so if you are going to have proteins make sure that they do not require much chewing or it may be a bit painful.

  • Soups or stews.

Soups or stews are another favorite meal after starting braces or Invisalign as they are comforting and very easy to chew.  A few of our favorite recommendations are tomato soup, lentil soup or pumpkin soup. If you are looking for something heartier try a chicken soup or a chili.  Just keep in mind that you want to have softer foods so don’t get a soup with big chunks of beef or chicken that is hard to chew.
